Prof: Jennifer Penner
Jennifer Penner, originally from Maine, completed her BMus in Violin Performance from Columbia Union College, while studying with Gerald Fischbach and Ronda Cole (pedagogy) at the University of Maryland. In 2008, Ms. Penner received her MMus degree from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music where she also pursued her Doctorate of Musical Arts as a scholarship student of Suli Xue. In October 2011, she successfully completed comprehensive exams for her Doctorate of Musical Arts which will be conferred in 2012. Ms. Penner enjoyed the opportunity to play baroque violin as leader and soloist with the USC Baroque Sinfonia as well as guest with Los Angeles Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra. Recent festival appearances include École des Musique Fontainebleau, Bowdoin, and International String Workshops. Performing as concertmaster and soloist with the New England Symphonic Ensemble, Ms. Penner has enjoyed orchestral tours on five continents, at venues including St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Sidney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. Since 2010, she has been Assistant Professor of Music at Canadian University College (Alberta) where she directs the CUC Chamber Orchestra, Silverwinds, Chamber Music, String instruction and pedagogy.
